John Williams (Rochester)

John Williams (January 7, 1807March 26, 1875) was an American merchant and miller from Rochester, New York.

Born in Utica, New York, he served as mayor of Rochester in 1853, and represented ushr|New York|29| in the United States House of Representatives in 1855 and 1856.

John Williams was a major general and served in the military both during the Civil War and the U.S. - Mexican War. He was known to have corresponded with Susan B. Anthony.
