Sandy Springs, Georgia . The student population represents forty-four languages and eighty-nine different nationalities. Students receive the International Bacculaureate diploma upon completion of the program. The school routinely sends its graduates to some of the most prestigious universities in the country, including theEmory University , theGeorgia Institute of Technology ,New York University ,Washington University in St. Louis ,Syracuse University ,Dartmouth College ,MIT ,Princeton University ,Rice University ,Northwestern University ,University of Texas , University of North Carolina,Sewanee ,Yale ,Sewanee ,University of Georgia ,University of Alabama , and theUniversity of Pennsylvania . Riverwood offers three different languages: Spanish, French, and Japanese, . The school's mascot is the Raider. This school's girl's cross country team placed second in Georgia in the 2006 AAA state meet for the second time in 3 years. Returning 2007 runners Bret McDaniel '10, Blais Hickey '09, Victoria Jackson '08, and D`minia Stokes '08are expected to lead this year's squad back to the top of the podium. The baseball team at the school is perhaps Riverwood's marquee program, being a perennial region title contender and producing several minor league players throughout its existence. Tyler Thornburg '07, an outfielder and pitcher, has committed to play at Charleston Southern, a midmajor DI school. The 2007 team is currently deep in the playoffs, and with its powerful #2 seending and home field advantage could bring home serious hardware. The 2007 men's tennis team received the GHSA AAA runner up trophy, falling in the finals to eight-time state champion Westminster School, and was led by seniors Jourdon Johnson '07 and Harrison Winter '07, with great contribution from Andrew Clark '08. At the 2007 GHSA AAA men's track meet Amaechi Morton '08 placed 2nd in the 400 meters and was STATE CHAMPION in the 300m hurdles, while Michael Hermance '07 placed 2nd in the 800 meters, good for a 5th place overall finish. The girls' track team, led by third place finisher Blais Hickey '09 in the mile and second place finish by Rebekah Shaw in the pole vault, setting the state AAA record at 10'6. Jason Sampson and Kyle Green led the Raiders during the 2006-2007 lacrosse season.
