Junior Officers

Junior Officers

A Junior Officer on the Royal Air Force is a Pilot Officer, Flying Officer or Flight Lieutenant. Officers of these three RAF ranks all hold the Queen's Commission, but do not salute one another and refer to each other on a first name basis (rather than Sir). A Squadron Leader is the first rank known as a Senior Officer.
