- Forbes Park
Forbes Park is a gated community in the historic San Luis Valley of Colorado about 13 miles east of Fort Garland and 130 miles south west of Colorado Springs. It is truly a "PARK" with many alpine meadows, aspen, spruce and fir forests, and several alpine lakes. Forbes developed Forbes Park starting in the Mid 1970's and sold all properties. The Homeowner's Association maintains roads, common areas and the club house keeping the area pristine and as a first class gated development is the goal of the residents. Only short-term camping is allowed, and covenants ensure that new construction fits into its natural, alpine setting. The Association has snow plows and many of these parcels are accessible the year around.
There is also a Forbes Park, also known simply as Forbes, is a private subdivision and

Chelsea, Massachusetts . It comprises 17 acres along the Chelsea River and Mill Creek. It will include around 300 hybrid lofts with retail and creative commercial space. The primary power source will be a 600kw wind turbine and solar arrays generating over half of the site's power. Rain will be harvested in over 1,000,000 gallons of broad, open canals to supply water for the toilets. One very uncommon, but historically proven efficiency feature is the use of passive cooling. there is no air conditioning in the buildings. the all have special windows creating air scoops and the building and units have been designed to amplify the natural air flow to cool the units even on humid days. They discuss these features in greater depth on their website: www.forbeslofts.com.
