The Fibonaccis

The Fibonaccis

The Fibonaccis were an art rock group from Los Angeles. The members were Magie Song (vocals), Ron Stringer (guitar and bass), John Dentino (keyboards), Joe Berardi (drums), and Tom Corey (bass guitar and mandolin). Their name was taken from the 14th century Italian mathematician Leonardo Fibonacci. [http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=11:gzfyxqu5ldde~T1 Fibonaccis biography,] All Music Guide.]

Rather like Siouxsie & the Banshees, the Fibonaccis were intelligent and technically accomplished musicians who explored dark themes, but they did so in a more cartoonish and satirical fashion. Their rendition of Bernard Herrmann's theme from "Psycho" was a favorite in concert. Their bizarre cover of Jimi Hendrix's Purple Haze is preceded by a snippet from a jailhouse interview of Charles Manson.

Their instrumental song "Sergio Leone" was used for the closing credits of the 1982 Science fiction film Android and its trailer. [ [http://www.videodetective.com/movies/ANDROID/trailer/P00002198.htm Film trailer,] Videodetective.com - The Movie Preview Search Engine.]
