The "Sauro "Class were a group of
destroyer s built for the Italian Navy in the late 1920s. All these ships fought in World War II. They were based in theRed Sea Italian Colony ofEritrea and were sunk during the East African Campaign in 1941.These ships were an enlarged version of the sclass|Sella|destroyer, with 6 rather than 4 torpedo tubes, a 60 cm increase in beam, and a new bridge structure.

Cesare Battisti , built by Odero, Sestri Ponente, completed 13 April 1927. Scuttled on3 April 1941 .
* "Daniele Manin" - Named after patriotDaniele Manin , built by CNQ Fiume, completed 1 March 1927. She was sunk by a bombing on3 April 1941 .
* "Francesco Nullo" - Named afterFrancesco Nullo , built by CNQ Fiume, completed 15 April 1927. She was beached20 October ,1940 , onHarmi island following a battle with HMS|Kimberley|F50|6. The next day the wreck was destroyed by threeRAF Bristol Blenheim bombers.
* "Nazario Sauro" - Named afterNazario Sauro , built by Odero, Sestri Ponente. Completed23 September 1926 . She was sunk 3 April 1941 by an Allied bombing.References
