The Alaska Vocational Technical Center, also known as AVTEC, is a technical school in Seward, Alaska.
AVTEC is subsidized by the Alaska Department of Labor. It's mission is to train Alaskans and prepare them for Alaskan industries that would otherwise require out of state contracts. AVTEC enrollment is open to out of state residents, although at a higher tuition rate.

Information Technology Program
AVTEC is home to one of the best I.T. programs in the state of Alaska.The program consists of an intense 38 week long program. From the very start of the programstudents are taking apart computers and putting them back together. Over 20 percent of the program is hands on. Later on in the course students learn to create and wire networks, manage windows servers, learn customer support skills, the students even run their own pc repair shop. At the end of the year students intern at the I.T. organization of their choice.
