Yajurvedi: The word denotes one of the two subcastes of Deshastha Brahmin of Maharashtra and Karnataka. The other subcaste is Rigvedi. The word Yajurvedi is derived from Yajurveda, one of the four holy Veda (religious texts) of Hindus.ethno-stub. The Yajurvedis are further divided into Shukla & Krishna yajurvedi, the former being mooted by Rishi Yajnyavalkya. In Maharashtra most Shukla Yajurvedis are from the Madhayandin Shakha and other from Kanav.
