Fay Zwicky

Fay Zwicky (born 1933) is a contemporary Australian poet and academic.

Fay Zwicky was born and grew up in Melbourne where she began writing as a student at Melbourne University. [ [http://www.austlit.com/a/zwicky/index.html Faye Zwicky] ("sic.") at Australian Literary Resources] She has since been a concert pianist and lectured in American and comparative literature at University of Western Australia until her retirement. After which she has concentrated on writing, achieving international recognition. The exploration of her Jewish heritage is a recurrent motif in her work. Though she does not confine herself thematically, encompassing more recently, for example, the work of Japanese printmaker Hokusai.

* 1998 - Western Australian Premier's Book Awards for Poetry for "The Gatekeeper's Wife"
* 2005 - Patrick White Award

Her most recent collection of poems is "Picnic", published in 2006.
