Lopez Group of Companies

The Lopez Group of Companies is a business conglomerate in the Philippines owned by the López family of Iloilo. The current listed flagship company of the Group is Benpres Holdings Corporation, which was first listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange in 1993.

Benpres is a major player in the public service and utilities sector in the Philippines. The Group moved out of banking in 1999, selling its shares in PCI Bank.

*Beyond Cable Holdings Inc.: a consolidation including SkyCable (Home Cable and Sky Vision) in an agreement with PLDT Group; signed a debt restructuring agreement in 2004.
*Bayantel (Bayan Telecommunications Holdings Corporation): originally a joint venture with Bell Atlantic (now Verizon Communications); the only major communications company offering customer satisfaction guarantees.

*Maynilad Water Services Inc.: originally a joint venture with Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux (now Ondeo), to operate and manage the water and wastewater services in western Manila; sought court protection in 2003

Power generation

*First Gen Corporation (First Gen): owns four power plants, Bauang (225MW), Panay (Iloilo City; diesel-fired, 72MW), Sta. Rita (gas-fired, 1000MW), and San Lorenzo (500MW).

Power distribution

*Manila Electric Company (Meralco since 1903): bought by Don Eugenio Lopez in 1962, and developed into a pre-eminent power-distributing company, and the first Filipino company to issue bonds on Wall Street.

*Manila North Tollways Corporation (MNTC): owns the company which operates the North Luzon Expressway since 2005.

*Rockwell Land Corporation (RLC): formed in 1995 to develop the Rockwell Center, a retail and residential property in Makati.
*First Philippine Industrial Park (FPIP): a joint venture with Sumitomo Corporation of Japan, formed in 1996 to develop an industrial park in Batangas.
