The Rockwell Center is an upscale mixed-use 15.5-hectare project in
Makati City ,Philippines . It is a project of the Rockwell Land Corporation (established 1995), which is owned by the influential Lopez family. It sits on the site of a former thermal plant, closed in 1994, which was operated by Lopez-ownedMERALCO (the project is named forJames Chapman Rockwell , the first president of MERALCO). Construction began in 1998. Its centerpiecePower Plant Mall opened in December 2000.Features of the Rockwell Center include high-rise office buildings, condominiums, a school, and a shopping mall. Among the plans for the area is the
