Francis Rostell "Red" Donahue (January 23 1873 – August 25 1913) was an American Major League Baseball pitcher from Waterbury, Connecticut, who played for 13 seasons both in the National League and the American League from by|1893 through by|1906.cite web| title = Red Donahue's career stats | work = retrosheet.org | url=http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/D/Pdonar101.htm | accessdate = 2008-03-26 ]

Career

Red broke into the Majors with the New York Giants in 1893, while still attending Villanova University. After finishing college in by|1895, he made an appearance with the St. Louis Browns near the end of the season.

On July 8, by|1898, he pitched a no-hitter against the prolific Baltimore Orioles lineup that included future Baseball Hall of Fame players John McGraw, Willie Keeler, Joe Kelley, Hughie Jennings, and Wilbert Robinson.

Post-career

Red died in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the age of 40, after succumbing to the effects of paralysiscite web| title = The Dead Ball Era: Too Young To Die | work = thedeadballera.com | url=http://www.thedeadballera.com/tooyoung.html | accessdate = 2008-03-26 ] , and was interred at St. Joseph Cemetery in Waterbury, Connecticut.
