Letwell is a rural village in the metropolitan borough of Rotherham (part of
South Yorkshire ,England ), on the border withNottinghamshire . It lies betweenDinnington andLangold , off theB6463 road . It is located at 53° 22' 40" North, 1° 9' West, at an elevation of around 75 metres abovesea level .The first reference to Letwell was in the 12th century when it was part of the lands of
Tickhill Castle .The village is famed locally, it also has a
octagon al red-brick 18th centurydovecote , and there is also a 19th century dovecote in the village. Letwell has a number of listed Georgian buildings, including farm cottages, arectory , and a village hall.The village of
Firbeck lies to the north of Letwell, whileGildingwells lies to the south.
