Friendly High School is a public high school in Fort Washington in unincorporated Prince George's County in the state of Maryland in the United States. The school's mission is "To build an educated community of lifelong learners and productive citizens who are able to compete in a global economy." The school's first classes began in 1970 with 9th, 10th, and 11th grades. The first seniors graduated in 1972.

School uniforms

Friendly High School has a new mandatory school uniform policy beginning with the 2006–2007 school year [http://www.pgcps.org/~friendly/Mandatory%20Uniform%20Policy.doc] . Prior to that Friendly High School students were allowed to wear any types of clothing. Friendly High School is located in Prince Georges County, a most african american county. Most say that the uniform policy was started due to the increased violence between students of rival neighborhood gangs, some who are bussed from communities in Oxon Hill near the Washington, D.C. line.

School championships

The school has won State Championships in the sports of basketball in 2003 and 2004, American Football and, in the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and in 2006 Indoor and Outdoor track. During the 2006 football season, the Patriots were undefeated, and ended their perfect season by winning the 3A state championship by beating River Hill High School on December 9, 2006. They also did the same in 1999 beating Eastern Tech High School.

Friendly High School has recently won two Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association championships (1999 & 2006) under the leadership of coach George Early. Friendly High School has been a top athletic school producing NFL players like, Leon Joe, Donald Malloy, Rodrick Bryant and many others.

The Hollywood actor Martin Lawrence attended the school.

School Band

Friendly High School Band was the number one band in Prince George's County in 2004. Currently the Marching Patriots are led by Carl Propst who is in his 3rd year of teaching at the school. The band is currently preparing for there 2nd trip to the annual Howard university homecoming parade on October 18th.

Friendly High School is in a suburban area near the United States capital city of Washington D.C.
