Bill Winter (born 1964) is an American
lawyer who is an Assistant District Attorney in Denver,Colorado . He was the Democratic candidate inColorado's 6th congressional district for theUnited States House of Representatives in 2006. He lost to incumbent RepresentativeTom Tancredo onNovember 7 ,2006 .Winter was an orphan born in Greeley, Colorado and was not adopted until age five due to a heart condition. He was raised in Littleton, Colorado. He graduated from
Littleton High School at the age of seventeen and enlisted in a Marine Reserve Artillery unit, and served for four years. Following his service he attended theUniversity of Colorado at Boulder . He then began a second term of service by joining the U.S. Navy, where he was chosen "Outstanding Recruit" in his basic training company, and served by working onF-14 Tomcat s at TOPGUN, the NAS Miramar flight school in San Diego, and on several aircraft carriers. Following his service he continued working at TOPGUN as a civilian contractor withLockheed Martin . Winter graduated fromChapman University and received a degree in Law fromThe Catholic University of America 'sColumbus School of Law inWashington, D.C. , after which he began working at the Justice Department, and on Sen.John McCain 's Commerce Committee staff. Winter practiced law inNorth Carolina , but left his firm and returned to his native Colorado to practice law, teach high school science, and coach football in Douglas County.External links
