New York .He was born in the area now encompassed by
New York City on3 January 1788 and was educated atHarrow School in England. He was the son ofRufus King , the brother ofJames Gore King , who briefly represented the state ofNew Jersey , and the father-in-law ofHenry Bell Van Rensselaer .John King served in the state assembly (at times from 1819 through 1840) and senate (1823), and was also the New York representative (1849–1851) to Congress.
King died on
7 July 1867 inQueens County, New York , aged 79.References
