Career
After earning his doctorate, Daellenbach moved the short distance to Canada and taught music at the University of Toronto.[1] The Canadian Brass was formed in 1970 by Daellenbach, trumpeter Stuart Laughton and trombonist Eugene Watts.
Daellenbach is well-known not only for his ability as a tubist, but also his personality and stage presence. Many attribute Daellenbach with establishing a now mandatory presentation style for all performers. Daellenbach's contributions to the brass world have been noted in standard repertoire for brass quintets, more than 30 best selling concert band versions of the most popular Canadian Brass repertoire, and an educational series that has sold over 500,000 copies worldwide. He has become a leading force in Canadian classical music through his recording company Opening Day Entertainment (ODEG). With over 60 CDs and DVDs this company is dedicated to solving the paid music delivery problems in the era of free downloads and pervasive electronic invasions. Three ODEG CDs have been top 10 Billboard hits, four have been awarded Juno Awards, while eleven have been nominated.
