nihongo title|Triggerheart Exelica|トリガーハート エグゼリカ|Torigā Hāto Eguzerika|officially romanized as "Triggerheart Exelica" is a shoot 'em up by Warashi, makers of the Sega Saturn shooting game "Shienryu". It was released in Japanese arcades in early 2006. The game runs on Sega's Naomi hardware.

The game involves playing 1 of 2 anthropomorphic fighters to battle against 5 stages of enemy ships. Exelica specializes in wide area attacks, while Crueltear uses concentrated front shots. Players can fire anchors to catch enemy ships, then use the caught unit as a shield or throw it to inflict more damage. Like Zanac, this game dynamically adjusts difficulty based on the player's in-game performance which is called V.B.A.S. (Variable Boss Attack System) here.

Dreamcast Version

Warashi ported the game to the Dreamcast.

The Dreamcast version added a story mode and an arrange mode. Arrange mode has an increased difficulty level and does not have continues.

There are two distinct versions being released: a regular version and a limited edition, which includes a soundtrack and guide book. Early orders from Sega Direct also included a phone card, and poster.

Although officially released only in Japan, it can be enjoyed by players from other countries because most of the menus are in English with Japanese subtitles. However you will need a Dreamcast boot disc to play it on a non Japanese console since the disc is locked to the Japanese region.

Xbox Live Arcade Version

Playstation 2 Version

A PS2 version is titled Trigger Heart Exelica Enhanced. Published by [http://www.alchemist-net.co.jp/products/exelica/ Alchemist] , it is going on sale in 2008 both a Limited Edition and Regular version. The Limited Edition will have a Nedoroid (Exelica) figure made by Good Smile Company.

The game added Faintear Imitate and C'r_na characters.
