July 27 ,1978 in Stoney Creek,Ontario ) is a Canadian professionalice hockey player. He was drafted by theNew York Islanders in the 4th round, 83rd overall in the1996 NHL Entry Draft . Garner played only three NHL games in his career, for theCalgary Flames in 1998–99 as an emergency callup from his junior team, theOshawa Generals . He posted a 0–2–0 record with a 5.18 GAA before being returned to the Generals.Garner spent most of his North American career in the
ECHL before moving to play in Europe in 2003.While playing in Norway during the 2005–06 season, Garner suffered a horrible groin injury which ripped the muscles from the bone. Doctors told him that under no circumstances could Garner play as a goaltender for at least one year. So he skated as a forward with the
SPHL Jacksonville Barracudas . He hopes to return as a goaltender in the future, and also hopes to obtain Norwegian citizenship in time to participate in the 2010Olympics .He is now under contract with the
Brisbane Blue Tongues for theAustralian Ice Hockey League 2007 season.References
