The district currently has ten elementary schools: Atwood, Carkenord, Chesterfield, Graham, Green, Higgins, Lobbestael, South River, Tenniswood and Yacks. The district is also served by four middle schools: Middle School South, Middle School Central, Middle School North and Middle School East. It also has two high schools: L'Anse Creuse High School and L'Anse Creuse High School - North, which is a National Blue Ribbon school. Middle School North was once visited by Al Gore.

New Developments

The year 2000 saw the construction of a new pool at L'Anse Creuse High School - North, modeled after L'Anse Creuse High School's own pool, only in the North colors of black and gold.

A new library was also constructed at North, which added a new face to the entrance of the school. The new library replaced an old, cramped, window-less library, which was converted into four classrooms.

Middle School East was built in 2000 to handle the growing population of the county. MSE is a National Blue Ribbon School. In the summer of 2006, both high schools received new fields and tracks for various athletics. Both fields are now of synthetic turf with vibrant writing on the field. Actual grass would be more costly to maintain.

Also, High School North received new home bleachers and a ticket booth.

Atwood Elementary was also not only renovated, but completely rebuilt. The old cramped school is now a large, modern school, looking less like an elementary school and more like a middle school.

After the 2005-2006 boys basketball season was complete, the gymnasium at L'Anse Creuse High School was demolished, to make way for a new state-of-the-art gymnasium, which was completed in 2007 along with a new student commons area.

High School North's October issue of its newspaper also states that a new music and band wing will start construction soon, supposedly to be located on the north end of the social studies hallway. The wing is to model the new library in its circular fashion, and completion is expected for the fall of 2008 for the incoming freshmen. The existing band and music wing, (being that it is between the gym and the pool) will be transformed into a state of the art fitness room, aerobics room and wresting room, to replace the aging current gym.

Renovations are also planned for the gymnasium at North.

South River Elementary School was torn down and rebuilt this past year. The start of the 2007 school year marked the new beginning of the new school.

Green Elementary School is planned to be rebuilt.

Changes for the 2007-2008 school year at L'Anse Creuse High School and High School North

L'Anse Creuse Public Schools values the safety and security of all students and staff. The school district has made the decision to close both high school campuses beginning in the 2007-2008 school year. The campuses are closed not only for lunch but for the entire school day.

The 2005 Bond money is also working to buy faculty at many of the schools in the L'Anse Creuse district new cars. [http://www.lc-ps.org/AboutUs/Bond2005/]
