Kiryat Haim ( _he. קריית חיים) is one of the five Krayot suburbs located north of
Haifa ,Israel . In 2003, Kiryat Haim had a population of 40,000. Kiryat Haim is within the municipal borders of the city of Haifa, and lies on the shore of theMediterranean Sea .History
Kiryat Haim, founded in 1933, was named after
Haim Arlosoroff who was assassinated that year. It consists of east Kiryat Haim (the old town) and West Kiryat Haim (newer neighborhoods) near the railroad tracks. Until the early 1960s, the land between the tracks and the sea was covered with sand dunes.Demographics
Kiryat Haim absorbed large numbers of immigrants from the former Soviet Union who arrived in the 1990s.

The most notable sports team in the history of Kiryat Haim was its weightlifting team, which was sent to the Munich Olympics in 1972.
Ze'ev Friedman , a member of the team, was murdered by Arab terrorists in theMunich massacre , after placing 6th in the world.Transportation
