Dan Earl

Dan Earl is from Medford Lakes, New Jersey. He attended Shawnee High School in Medford, New Jersey, graduating in 1993. Dan was a highly successful basketball player.[1]

His accomplishments during his high school basketball career include the following;

  • He was named a Parade (magazine) All-American.[2]
  • The Shawnee Basketball team had a combined 59 - 3 record during Dan's Junior and Senior years.[1]
  • Earl was named USA Today 1993 New Jersey Player of the Year.[1]
  • His 2,006 career point total ranks him as Burlington County's second all-time leading scorer.
  • For 1991-1992 the Shawnee Basketball team was the New Jersey State Champions, ranked #1 in New Jersey, and # 9 in the USA.[3]
  • For 1992-1993 the Shawnee Basketball team was the South Jersey Champions, and was ranked # 7 in the USA.[3]

Dan accepted a scholarship to Penn State University, where he was the starting point guard on the basketball team his freshman year. He was one of Penn State's all time leaders in scoring and assists, and he was named to the All Big-Ten team.[2] The 1995-1996 Nittany Lions basketball team started the season with a 19-2 record and was ranked #9 in the country at that point during the season.

Personal

In June, 2005, Dan accepted a position as 3rd Assistant Basketball coach with Penn State University. Dan's brother Brian Earl is an assistant men's basketball coach at Princeton University.
