Boston Men's Baseball League

The Boston Men's Baseball League is New England's largest amateur baseball league [http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20050415&content 1] , located in and around Boston, Massachusetts. It is the local chapter of the national "Men's Senior Baseball League" (MSBL, founded in 1988) and "Men's Adult Baseball League" (MABL, founded in 1993). As of 2006, the league has 53 teams that span across three separate age divisions (18+, 30+, and 40+). Each age division has its own independent schedule from the others, and compete yearly for a divisional championship. Each division also grants various awards to exceptional players in specific categories (e.g. Cy Young for pitchers, MVP for most valuable player, Rookie of the Year for the best rookie in a given season, etc.). Each division also holds an annual All-Star game for the best players in each division at Edward A. LeLacheur Park in Lowell, Massachusetts (home of the Lowell Spinners).

The BMBL is also the original founder of the annual charitable fundraising event, the 100 Inning Game, in which players from the BMBL and other local leagues play 100 innings of baseball to raises funds from sponsors to support Curt's Pitch for ALS, a charitable organization started by Boston Red Sox pitcher, Curt Schilling, that supports the fight against the disease ALS. The wife of Curt Schilling makes an annual appearance at the charity event, and Curt Schilling personally receives the check each year.

Other charitable activities by the BMBL include Winterball, which is an annual event where players from the league play a 9-inning game during the first week of December for the Toys for Tots program from the Marine corps. [http://www.bostonbaseball.com/2006WinterballPressRelease.pdf 2]
