Tresco Heliport

Tresco Heliport

is a heliport located on the island of Tresco, in the Isles of Scilly off the south-west coast of England, UK. [United Kingdom, AIP]

Tresco Heliport has a CAA Ordinary Licence (Number P677) that allows flights for the public transport of passengers or for flying instruction as authorised by the licensee. The aerodrome is not licensed for night use [ [http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/375/srg_asd_ordinarylicences.pdf Civil Aviation Authority Aerodrome Ordinary Licences] ] .

Tresco's principal industry is tourism, and the heliport supports this by enabling scheduled helicopter service to and from the mainland. Without the presence of the heliport, visitors to the island from the mainland would need to transfer to the inter-island boat service from the main island of St. Mary's. The heliport is owned and operated by Tresco Estates, who lease the island from the Duchy of Cornwall.

On summer weekdays the heliport receives up to six flights a day from Penzance Heliport on the mainland, declining to two services a day in winter. Passengers are conveyed from the heliport to their resort or destination on a passenger carrying trailer drawn by a farm tractor.
