Barry Eugene "Butch" Wilmore (born December 29, 1962 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee) is a NASA astronaut. He was born in Tennesee on 12-29-1962

Raised in Mount Juliet, Wilmore's mother Faye and father Eugene, Wilmore is one of two kids, the only one aside from bother Jack Wilmore. He is married to Deanna Wilmore.

Wilmore received both his Bachelor's of Science and Master of Science degrees at the Tennessee Technological University in electrical engineering.

With four operational deployments to his name, Wilmore is a skilled A-7E, A-17 and F-17 pilot and a Commander of the United States Navy. He works as an engineer and as this Navy commander aside from being a NASA astronaut. He has flown on three different aircraft carriers–the USS Eisenhower, the USS Enterprise, the USS Forrestal, and the USS Kennedy, and has been involved with missions in flight in Bosnia. He has also flown flights relating to Operation Desert Storm and the Iraq War. Wilmore has flown and logged over 5,000 hours in the air, and over 500 aircraft carrier landings.

Currently, Wilmore works in the Astronaut Office as a leader in propulsion systems aboard the Shuttle, and also is part of the launch crew. Wilmore is an active United States Navy Captain and has also been assigned to be the pilot of the Space Shuttle's STS-129 mission to the International Space Station as the pilot, second to commander Charles Hobaugh aboard vehicle Discovery. Mission specialists Randolph Bresnik, Michael Foreman, Leland Melvin, Robert Satcher, and Robert Thirsk will join them. The mission is carrying the EXPRESS Logistics Carrier, and will ferry an International Space Station astronaut for the last time in Space Shuttle history.
