German Open (snooker)

German Open (snooker)

The German Open was a professional snooker tournament. It was held as a ranking tournament from 1995 to 1997 before changing its name to the German Masters, a non-ranking tournament, in 1998.

The tournament started again in 2004 as the Grand Prix and was staged in Fürth. After two years as the Fürth German Open, it was renamed the Paul Hunter Classic in 2007 in memory of the late player Paul Hunter.

Barry Pinches was the first player to win the newly-named title in August 2007, beating Ken Doherty 4-0 in the final. The event, which was sponsored by betandwin.de for the previous two years, did not carry a sponsor.

In October 2007, a new snooker tournament known as the snooker.de German Open was held in Ulm. It was won by Mark Davis, beating Joe Perry 4-3 in the final.
