Ulster Senior Football Championship , he was named as the 2006 Irish News Ulster Allstars player of the year. It was the second time he had been selected on the Ulster Allstars team and the first time hew was announced as the player of the year. He was awarded a GAA All-Star for his 2006 performances with Armagh. Clarke missed the 2007 season due to a cruciate ligament injury suffered in the 2006 season.Ross Carr the current Down manager is one of many people to believe that "Armagh have the best forward in the country in Ronan Clarke" His current form backs this statement up.
