Club career

Kerkez began his football career in Serbia at FK Partizan from 1997 to 1998, but did not manage any first team appearances under head coach Ljubiša Tumbaković.

He would continue playing in the Serbian football league system for lower league teams such as Jedinstvo Ub and Radnički Obrenovac until 2002.

At the age of 26 he got noticed and signed by Herzegovinian club FK Leotar Trebinje, helping them win the domestic league title.

After two years in FK Leotar, Kerkez was signed by HŠK Zrinjski Mostar, the oldest football club in Boznia and Herzegovina. Kerkez's participation in the Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina would not go unnoticed and around the same time was called up to join his national football team.

In 2005, Kerkez left the Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina for Croatian club NK Rijeka in the Prva HNL, the top Croatian football league. His participation in this team would last until 2007 when he joined the squad of AEL Limassol, from the Cypriot First Division, where has currently had 65 appearances and scored 4 goals.

International

Kerkez was part of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national football team, earning his first call-up in 2004 along with team-mate Ninoslav Milenković.[2]
