- Unity Boulevard
Unity Boulevard, locally known as either Unity Boulevard and Northwest or Southwest 27th Avenue, is a north-south avenue that runs west of downtown Miami in Miami-Dade County,
Florida .It was given the name Unity Boulevard in 1988 in observance of the many diverse neighborhoods that it bisects on its linear path through Miami-Dade County. [ [http://www.miamiherald.com/multimedia/news/27avenue/ 27th Avenue: Voices from Unity Blvd. | MiamiHerald.com ] ]
The southern terminus is South Bayshore Drive in the city of Miami's Coconut Grove. To the southeast of Bayshore Drive, Pan American Drive serves as a brief continuation of the road to go past a public boat launch, the Coconut Grove Convention Center, and Miami City Hall, looping back to Bayshore Drive.
Starting north of the intersection with U.S. Highway 1 (South Dixie Highway) it becomes State Road 9 from this point it continues through the city of Miami as Southwest 27th Avenue until crossing West Flagler Street where it becomes Northwest 27th Avenue.
State Road 9 separates from Unity Boulevard just north of State Road 916 (Opa-locka Boulevard), and 27th avenue becomes State Road 817 for the remainder of it course.
Unity Boulevard becomes "University Drive" when it crosses into Broward County. It continues north through almost the entire county, until it ends at Trails End in Parkland. It is in the process of being extended northward from there as part of local development, and there is a small discontinuous segment of University Drive in southern Palm Beach County between Palmetto Park Road and Glades Road, not very far north of its end in Broward County, which may some day be connected with it.
