The Japanese bullhead shark, "Heterodontus japonicus", is a bullhead shark of the family Heterodontidae, found in the northwest Pacific Ocean around Japan, Korea, and northern China including Taiwan Island on the continental shelf at depths of between 6 and 37 m. Its length is up to 1.2 m.

The Japanese bullhead shark is found near shore on the continental shelf, more commonly on rocky and kelp-covered bottoms. It feeds on crustaceans, molluscs (including top shells), small fishes and sea urchins. Reproduction is oviparous.

It grabs prey by protruding its jaw with considerable distance. The body has broad blackish bands or saddle markings.
