On September 15, 2001, at the age of 15, Cameron passed out drunk on a train track on his way home from a party and was hit by a freight train travelling at high speed, causing the amputation of both legs above the knee and his right arm just below the shoulder. [cite news

NBC 's "My Name Is Earl " in the role of Jake, the "no-legged boyfriend". He plays the role of a wounded service member in the feature film "Stop Loss". He is also a spokesperson and mentor to young amputees. He uses computerized prosthetic legs and a body powered arm designed and fit by Hanger Prosthetics & Orthotics, Inc. He is an Amputee Coalition of America certified peer visitor.In November 2005 he was honored with a "Shining Star" award at the 58th annual Shining Star Awards Gala, an honor previously bestowed upon
