"The Tiger Rising" is a 2001 children's book written by Newbery Medal winning author Kate DiCamillo. It is about a 12-year old boy named Rob Horton who finds a caged tiger in the middle of the woods near his home. The book was a National Book Award Finalist.

Plot

Walking through the misty Flordia woods one morning, young Rob Horton discovers a large and very real tiger in a cage. On the same extraordinary day, he meets Sistine Bailey, and begins to understand that some things - like memories, and heartache, and tigers - can't be locked up forever.
