Masa con Masa have also received a nomination for Univision's 2008 Premios Lo Nuestro in the Best Rock Album category.
Lyrical content
Torres introduces social and political content in his lyrics. The political aspect of his songs was present at a time where cultural nationalism was experiencing growth among Puerto Rican youths, which was evidenced by manifestations against the US military presence in the island (see Navy-Vieques protests). Some Puerto Ricans were showing opposition to the American presence in Vieques, and also condemned the imprisonment of Puerto Rican prisoners in U.S. federal penitentiaries[3]
