Glendi

Glendi is an annual weekend long festival that celebrates Greek culture in Australia. It is held in Adelaide during the month of March to commemorate Greece's Independence Day, and is the largest ethnic festival in South Australia. For over 30 years Glendi has been presenting Greek culture at its best. The festival blends all the things which make life so wonderful; food, dancing, music and family.

Glendi is the major project of the Lions Club of Adelaide Hellenic. It raises money for a variety of charities and also provides an opportunity for the various local Greek brotherhoods, associations and clubs to raise money for their benefit.

One of South Australia’s most popular cultural festivals, Glendi promotes Greek culture through exhibitions and performances that display the culture’s history, arts, music, dance & food. Music is performed by local, interstate and international artists. Art pieces and historical artefacts are displayed in the Cultural Marquee. Food from all regions of Greece is there for all to enjoy. With an estimated 50,000 people turning out for the festivities every year, it is one of Australia’s largest multicultural festivals and also one of the largest festivals of its type in the Southern Hemisphere.

Glendi has also become increasingly popular as in event in Manchester, New Hampshire in the United States. Every yaer tens of thousands of people come out to the event.
