"The Day the Laughter Died" is a comedy double album by comedian Andrew Dice Clay, which was released in 1990. It was produced by renowned record producer, Rick Rubin. Rubin's concept was to record an unadvertised performance in a small club, with a small crowd, many of which would not particularly be fans of Clay's act. Clay chose a New York club, owned by legendary comedian, Rodney Dangerfield, "Dangerfield's", as well as to record during the holiday season to increase the likelihood of their desired outcome. This album showcased Clay's evidently innate ability to work a crowd and mine it for more material than a listener could expect. With some intentionally bizarre bits, and multiple walk-outs from angered crowd-members, this record has been described by some, as "experimental comedy".
