Emeritus Professor Derek Ashworth Denton AC[1] (born 27 May 1924) is an Australian scientist renowned for his research exploring the nature of consciousness in animals.
He is the founder of the Howard Florey Institute[2], Honorary Professor at the University of Melbourne, a consultant at the Baker Research Institute, and Director Emeritus of the Howard Florey Institute. Denton's latest book is The Primordial Emotions: The Dawning of Consciousness.[3]
Personal life
Derek Denton has been married since 1953 to Dame Margaret Scott.[4][5]
