Steven Cousins (born
May 24 ,1972 inChester ,England ) is a British figure skater. He is the eight-time British national champion, the first Briton to land a tripleaxel in competition (at the1994 Winter Olympics inLillehammer ,Norway ), and the youngest skater to win the British National Championships. He competed in eightWorld Figure Skating Championships and threeWinter Olympics . His highest Olympic placement was a sixth place finish at the 1998 Nagano Olympics.He trained in the
United Kingdom and theUnited States for many years before settling in to live and train inBarrie, Ontario ,Canada at theMariposa School of Skating in 1993. He was coached byDoug Leigh . He retired from eligible competition in 1998, but he continues to skate professionally, having toured withStars on Ice until 2007. He also works as a choreographer.In June 2003, Steven married Canadian ice dancer
Kristina Lenko , but the couple formally separated in the summer of 2006 and subsequently divorced.On October 6, 2007, Cousins became a father when
Elena Berezhnaya gave birth to their son, Trysten Cousins.
