- Huocheng County
The Huocheng (Qorghas) County ( _zh. 霍城县) is situated within the
Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and under the administration of theIli Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture . It's located betweenYining and the border toKazakhstan , occupies an area of 5,466 km² and has a population of 360,000 (2004 estimate). Including the Han and Uyghur nationalities, there are twenty nine ethnic groups living in the county.North of Huocheng City is the
Tianshan District ; facing to the south lies theIli River . Its Western side is China's border to Kazakhstan;Yining lies about 45 km to the east.A China-Kazakhstan railway link through Huocheng is currenty under construction and scheduled to finish at the end of 2009, becoming China's second railway link to

In agriculture, the local population cultivate
wheat , corn and other crops includingsugar beet ,cotton ,tobacco ,apples ,animal husbandry withcattle andsheep .The main
mineral s extracted in the area includecoal ,phosphorus ,iron ,gold ,silver ,copper ,limestone , Icelandspar andmarble , etc.References
