Bobby Gonzalez is currently the head coach of the Seton Hall University men's basketball team. Gonzalez was previously the head coach at Manhattan College. Gonzalez had a career record of 129-77 in seven seasons at Manhattan, including two trips to the NCAA Tournament. He took the Jaspers to the 2nd Round of the 2004 NCAA Tournament after the team defeated the fifth seeded Florida Gators in the first round 75-60.

Gonzalez's first season as Seton Hall coach ended with an under .500 record overall. The season ended with a 13-16 record and a record of 4-12 in the Big East. Seton Hall finished 13th out of 16 in the Big East and missed the Big East tournament for the first time.

Gonzalez's second season at Seton Hall was more successful than his first. The Pirates finished the regular season with 7 Big East wins and 17 wins overall. They qualified for the Big East tournament for the first time under Gonzalez as the 11 seed against the 6 seed Marquette Golden Eagles. Marquette won the game 67-54 to advance to the quarterfinals against The University of Notre Dame. The Pirates missed out on an NIT bid and rejected an invitation to the inaugural College Basketball Invitational. Gonzalez's fiery personality reared its head following the Pirates last second loss to in-state rivals Rutgers on March 9, 2008. His criticism of the officiating resulted in a suspension for the first Big East game of the 08-09 season.

Before coaching at Manhattan, Gonzalez was a long time assistant for Pete Gillen. He worked with Gillen at the University of Virginia, Providence College, and Xavier University.

Gonzalez also has experience coaching with USA Basketball. He was an assistant coach with the 2005 USA World University Games Team that won a gold medal in Turkey. He was also a court coach for the 2002 USA Junior National Team Trials.

Gonzalez graduated from Buffalo State College in 1986 with a degree in Communications. He became a father for the first time on November 28, 2007 when his wife gave birth to a baby girl Brooke Kimberly Gonzalez.
