Plot Summary:
Two slave brothers, one black, one an albino, discover a treasure map which is taken from them by their foreman. They take it back but are pursued by the foreman. Originally, the foreman seeks the aid of two bounty hunters who pursue the protagonists throughout the film. At the end, both the foreman and the bounty hunters catch up with the two escaped slaves, and the foreman has a change of heart, helping to kill the bounty hunters.
Cult Status:
Like many blaxploitation films of the time, Charcoal Black has attained a
Cult Film status.Fact|date=June 2007 The main character in the film is an albino black, but is played by actor Chris Robinson, a white man with his hair bleached blond. The absurdity of being the only blaxploitation film starring a white man coupled with the fact that the movie is so utterly awful, has put Charcoal Black in the category of films that are 'so-bad-they're-good.'It further adds to the strangeness when the title of the movie was changed to Black Rage and fitted with a cover featuring an angry black man who does not appear in the film. This was likely done as a marketing technique in an attempt to generate interest in the movie.
