- Remi Chandran
Remi Chandran is an
environmental policy researcher currently associated with theUnited Nations University International Institute for Software Technology and works on issues relating toUnited Nations Conventions andcivil society participation.He holds a postgraduate degree fromUniversity College Dublin and was part of the Forest Ecosystem Research Group (FERG). After completing his studies, he returned toIndia to work with the government and was involved mainly with projects dealing with policy issues related to environment and Agriculture. Mr. Chandran joined theUnited Nations University in 2003 and was involved in development and management of various projects. Having a special interest onenvironmental governance andsustainable development and, with specific focus on the emerging economies in Asia and its impact on biodiversity, Mr. Chandran developed the GIS based environmental governance model,Wildlife Enforcement Monitoring System (WEMS), with the support of Asian Conservation Alliance, a network of Asian NGO's based in Tokyo. Mr. Chandran is also the recipient of theIrish government fellowship.External links
