"Kadhal Kottai" ( _ta. காதல் கோட்டை) is a Tamil film in which Ajith Kumar and Devayani play major roles. Heera Rajgopal, "Thalaivasal" Vijay, and Karan play important roles. The film won the National Film Award for Best Directing for 1996. It was directed by Agathiyan. Agathiyan himself remade this movie in Hindi titledSirf Tum.

Plot

The plot revolves around two introvert hearts falling in unconditional love without seeing each other until the climax. This was the second film by Agathiyan-Ajith combo following Vaanmathi. This big-budget film grossed almost Rs.300 million at the box office playing for 240 days successfully. The film was a sensation and spawned several clones with the prefix "Kadhal..." in the title. Ajith's salary was a mere Rs.500,000 for the movie. This was one of Ajith's biggest hits in the 1990s.
