The Global Fund for Women is a
non-profit foundation that gives grants to organizations worldwide that focus on women'shuman rights . Itsheadquarters are inSan Francisco, California . It was started in 1987 by New ZealanderAnne Firth Murray who served as President until her retirement in 1996. The Global Fund is the largest organization of its kind supporting grassroots women's groups worldwide.The Global Fund for Women is an international network of women and men committed to a world of equality and social justice. It advocates and defends women's human rights by making grants to support women's groups around the world.
The organization is part of a global women's movement that is rooted in a commitment to justice and an appreciation of the value of women's experience. The challenges women face vary widely across communities, cultures, religions, traditions and countries.
