The spadenose shark, "Scoliodon laticaudus", the only member of the genus "Scoliodon", is a shark of the family Carcharhinidae, found in tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific oceans between latitudes 34° N and 10° S, at depths of between 10 and 13 m on rocky substrates of coastal waters and lower reaches of tropical rivers. Its length is up to about 1 m.

The spadenose shark forms large schools, and feeds on small bony fishes, shrimps and cuttlefish. It is viviparous. It is utilized fresh for human consumption, processed into fishmeal and used as bait for other sharks and bony fishes.

Coloration is bronze grey above, white below, with fins sometimes darker than body - there are no conspicuous markings.
