Mark Kenneth Woods is a Canadian writer, actor, producer and director.
Born in Montreal, Quebec,[1] Woods is a prolific media artist, writer and actor who works in film, video and television. Drawing from feminist, queer and post-colonial theory, his works in both TV and film often combine comedy, parody and camp with ideas about gender, sexuality and race.[2]
He is a graduate of the Vancouver Film School and the University of Toronto’s cinema studies program and also holds a Master’s degree in communication and cultural studies from York University in Toronto. He has also taught at the School for the Contemporary Arts at Simon Fraser University.[3]
Woods is best known for writing, producing and acting on the TV series the House of Venus Show on OUTtv Canada, OUTTV Netherlands, Pink TV France/Belgium/Switzerland and here! Network USA.
His first feature film Deb and Sisi premiered at the Out On Screen Vancouver Queer Film Festival in August 2008[4] and was released on DVD on May 25, 2010. The movie had it's television broadcast premiere on OUTtv Canada October 30th, 2011.
His mockumentary Vance and Pepe's Porn Start premiered at the same festival on August 20, 2011.[5]
Woods is openly gay[6] and lives in Toronto, Ontario.
