Kevin McCourt (born 1964) is a Scottish interdisciplinary
artist . He was born inGlasgow and lives and works inMadrid .McCourt is director of the "XYZ010 Project", an ongoing international and cross-cultural exploration of creative processes. XYZ010 specifically gathers evidence of
metaphorical visualisations inscientific research . Furthercollaborative research, using creative processes more commonly associated withart practice, explores links between this evidence,contemporary art debates and the widersocial context . Resulting propositions are presented in the form of installations, social events, web pages or aslinear video and film works.McCourt's internationally exhibited works include:"Barrio Mestizo / Barrio Castizo", which focuses on the recent phenomenon of mass immigration to Madrid;"Padres Maridos Hijos / Fathers Husbands Sons" (in collaboration with
graphic designer Gabriel Martínez), a documentaryportrait of abused women, combining image, manipulated sound (recorded from interviews) and typography; "Deadwood (War)", a visual poem (video) which plays with the possible multiple meanings of the word "deadwood" in English and "Conversation (between friends)", a series of works in a wide variety of media, including drawing, soundworks, installation and performance, which address themes related tocommunication within and acrosscultures .He has taught in
university faculties /art schools and given conferences in Britain,Spain ,Japan ,Mexico andGermany .External links
