Christopher Frederick Showerman (born June 24, 1971 in Jackson, Michigan) is an American actor.

Biography

Born and raised in Michigan, Showerman embarked on an acting career after school - he attended Michigan State University, where he majored in music - and moved to Hollywood to pursue that dream. After a couple of bit parts in films like Starship Troopers (1997) and Best in Show (2002), Showerman finally won a lead role in a film - Dumped was released in 2000.

In 2003, Showerman was chosen to star as George of the Jungle in the Disney sequel George of the Jungle 2 after Brendan Fraser declined. Since then he has appeared on TV series like The OC and CSI: Miami, and the features "Idol" and Sea of Fear.

In recent times, Showerman has co-starred in the films Complacent with Kerri Green, Parfection with Dean Cain, A Night at the Silent Movie Theater with Tony Todd, and Big Game and Commander and Chief both with actor, and Showerman's close friend, C. Thomas Howell.

Showerman was said to be one of the frontrunners for the role of The Man of Steel in Brian Singer's Superman Returns. He was later touted for another superhero role, that of He-Man in a Masters of the Universe feature. He also appeared as a contestant on Lifetime's Gay, Straight or Taken? where he was the "taken" one in 2007.

Showerman's film Live Fast, Die Young was released in cinemas in October 2008.

Showerman, based in Los Angeles, currently runs a production company with Australian writer/producer Clint Morris. Among the projects they have in the works : a supernatural western called Between the Sand and the Sky, the musical Radio America and a horror film, Rampage.

Acting-wise, Showerman will be seen in the lead role of Detective John Howl in "First Howl", a new horror/comedy from director David Flores. The upcoming film co-stars Eric Stoltz and C. Thomas Howell.
