IUAES

The IUAES is the International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences, the largest world forum of anthropologists and ethnologists. Its international Congress meets every five years in different countries, and includes biological anthropology, social anthropology, cultural anthropology, archaeology, linguistic anthropology, medical anthroppology, ethnology, and folkloristics. The IUAES was founded under the guidance of UNESCO in 1948. The then-separate International Congress of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences had been founded in London in 1934. The two organizations united in 1964, becoming formally one organization four years later.
