Scarborough and Whitby Railway

Scarborough and Whitby Railway

The Scarborough & Whitby Railway is a disused railway from Scarborough to Whitby in North Yorkshire, England, the line followed a scenic route along the Yorkshire coast.

It fell victim to the Beeching Axe closing in 1965. The trackbed has been developed into a rail trail and now forms part of National Cycle Network Route 1 [http://www.sustrans.org.uk/default.asp?county=1091091873447] .
