1958 ) is a Britishauthor .Robb was born in
Manchester and educated at theRoyal Grammar School Worcester andExeter College, Oxford , where he studied Modern Languages. He earned a PhD in French literature atVanderbilt University .He won the 1997
Whitbread Book Award for bestbiography ("Victor Hugo ") and was shortlisted for theSamuel Johnson Prize for "Rimbaud" in 2001. In2007 , he won theDuff Cooper Prize for "The Discovery of France ".On April 28, 2008 he was awarded the £10,000
